the right strengththe right strength: 5% solution of natural Vitamin E and a fresh 12% solution of Vitamin C at a pH of around 3. A label should include the products percentage of Vitamin C. Vitamin C breaks down at room temperature. If the Vitamin C is already in solution when you purchase the product, you have no way of knowing the current percentage of Vitamin C in that solution. (Vitamin C in solution, breaks down over time turning into sugar water, while it sits on the shelf waiting to be bought.) The best strength for skin care is a 12% vitamin C in a solution having a pH around 3. This is what you get when you open and fresh mix the L-ascorbic Vitamin C, making your own fresh 12% solution, for your skin, just before you using it on your skin. Clinical studies using the synthetic form of externally applied vitamin E must be at least 5% if a solution, to be of significant benefit. The application of 5% Vitamin E drives the Vitamin C into and through the upper layers of the skin to the abundant reservoirs of water cells below, where the Vitamin C can be used by and to protect the skin cells. Studies in the past decade have shown that natural Vitamin E is not only better absorbed than synthetic, but also better retained in the body. Natural Vitamin E is absorbed faster through the skin, retained longer in the skin cells, and give better results than the synthetic counterpart. Knowing 5% synthetic vitamin E works, we, of course, use 5% natural vitamin E because we know the natural form vitamin E works better.
